broken bells 02:27
broken bells are ringing for the dawning broken bells ring out across the land broken bells are ringing as the sun rises high & it shines over the cities & the fields let freedom ring like an alarm clock! let the earth stir from her slumber at the sound! broken bells are ringing for the mourning broken bells are ringing for the sad broken bells are ringing for the lonely & lost who are picking through the wreckage of their lives let freedom ring in every corner! let every broken heart be mended at the sound! broken bells are ringing out a warning broken bells are ringing loud & clear but the world will not listen to that clarion call as it rings out from the desert far away let freedom ring in every gunshot! let it shatter every eardrum in the land!

i tread the swamp of cables lay hands on my guitar a thousand eyes blink at me like binary stars i let the sound surround me the chatter & applause as the spotlights change from blue to red like binary stars if i offer this confession will you take it down as fact? the extent of my ascension took me aback a radio transmission or a single point of light it was never my ambition to shine this bright like a binary star but our fates were tied together i was rising as you fell & as i saw you passing by me i reached out to help & i made the right decision cause i'm glad to have you here we're two bodies in one orbit like binary stars shine brighter than the sun bathing everyone in sight with new light sing louder than the crowd never let them drown you out take your place at the front shine brighter than the sun bathing everyone in sight with new light climb higher than you dared up to where the air grows thin melt the wax from your wings

traitors 02:52
they called us traitors cause we followed a different star they called us wasters with our songs & our guitars but we were working on the dreams we kept alive while theirs died they tried to tell us that our dreams were just for kids they tried to sell us on their dreams of avarice but we never had those dreams we never wanted to rule the world & if that's what this life is all about then i guess they're right we're traitors to the cause with our tiny tattered banners we'll resist them when they come & when they line up hard against us we'll plant flowers in their guns it'll be our finest hour when we make our grand escape they'll brand us cowards but we'll leave their mouths agape as we turn skywards & let the wind take us away so come gather all you traitors no matter what your cause may be may your feathers all be white as you fly free & the stars that shine the brightest are the morning stars the traitors to the cause

audience 06:49
will my words be remembered when i'm gone? will they be sung by other singers when i'm done? i want my voice to rise over this city i want to be remembered so would you condescend to help me, my friends? i'm trying to lose myself in song i'm looking at the audience i am singing to the stars i want my songs to fly out on the airwaves & to spin out through the endless void of space until they're picked up on some strange & distant planet & i will be remembered so would you condescend to help me, my friends? i'm trying to lose myself in song i'm looking at the audience i am singing to the stars so when it comes to the time they carve my tombstone i hope the words they use will be my own but when they come to look for the body i will not be there i will have turned into the song

aeroplane 04:03
felt something change last night some kind of magic left this world i heard it pass right over me like an aeroplane black clouds all seething in the sky grey dust just hanging in the air like ashes floating down to earth from an aeroplane so many people left this town friends all scattered round the map their flightpaths traced a spider's web like aeroplanes woke up alone again you left no trace of where you'd gone you just passed by me for a second like an aeroplane
6.
starfall 05:13
on a carpet of sky we laid our plans like tiny stars how bright they burned! in a theatre of dreams we bared our souls to the world how sweet we sang! but the cracks in our voices & our skulls showed through & we left into the night la la la... on a january night we lay & looked up at the sky so cold! so dark! & we saw the shooting stars trace blazing trails through the clouds how fast they fell! & you told me that all the stars will fall in the end & we sang one last time la la la...
7.
so my spirit left my body through my nostrils at the same time as the bullet left my heart & i rose towards the stars but the clouds refused to part well i don't believe in heaven & i don't intend to start so if i never make it up there, that's okay if you want to see my face you can look up on a cloudy day so i drifted over the atlantic ocean pulled along by currents in the winds & they placed me in the way of an approaching aeroplane & as it passed right through me i swear i felt something change i left a part of me in every person there so if you want to feel my love it will reach you everywhere so if you need me close i'm not that far away & if you want to hear my voice you can find me in the radio waves i'm in the radio waves
8.
the sea was still our fleet becalmed the huntress spoke her toll was blood i walked to the altar in ignorant bliss my father would not meet my eyes & all the poets lied when i saw the knife i was terrified so blood was spilled the deed was done my father came back down alone & they say i was spared by miraculous grace & a deer appeared to take my place but all the poets lied there was no deer it was me who died so forget all those stories silence those songs they were torn in the telling they were told to you wrong but i'm free of their grip now they cannot hold me down for what good is a dead girl to a poet or a man? that's why all the poets lied the myth lives on it was me who died

elysium 03:41
10.
how can you sing to the moon? when there's so many stars to sing about almost too many to think about & how can you look at the sky? & not be amazed at the size of it when it blows my mind just to think of it & how can you stand on the stage? & not fall in love with the audience even if there's just one guy applauding us & how can you settle for less? when the world's spread out in front of you you could reach out & grab it, so why don't you? so while you hide in the darkness & wallow in your pain i will stand under a spotlight & raise my voice to the sky so now do you see why i sing to the stars? i woke from my dream to find only darkness there were no stars in the sky but they had fallen round my head & given me a crown
11.
such a heavy crown for a newborn prince to wear the prophetess has spoken & you are the chosen heir such a burden to be held in tiny hands they make you the king for a day then they use you & throw you away it's so hard to move on when you're wearing such a heavy crown when you're dragging that chain around letting it weigh you down it's so hard to hold on when they say you've got a world to save we need someone to show the way you dug your own damn grave such a vision from your seat upon the throne all the treasures of the world arrayed for you to own & all the sycophants who fulfil your every whim but don't fall under their spell they can kill you with kindness as well like an avalanche it all got out of hand now they're fighting wars for you & you're revered throughout the land & there's a cavalcade of lepers to be kissed you know that it will be no use but they'll turn on you if you refuse & just when the weight is comfortable on your head they'll drag you from your bed & take that heavy crown & place it on some other prince's brow do you hear that awful sound? i think they're coming for you now...

radio waves 08:58
if you find yourself alone & you cannot see the light look up it's all around you when you're lost upon the road & you cannot hear my voice when the world is bearing down & you feel you have no choice don't be afraid i'm not that far away i'm in the radio waves when you look up at the sky in the middle of the night when you're looking for some meaning but all you see are points of light remember me i'm not lying in my grave i'm in the radio waves don't be afraid don't be frightened cause nothing lasts forever not even death
